Description

Uveto VII is a moon orbiting the furthest gas giant in the Siretta system. While the system was opened in the 10th planet rush and many of its terrestrial planets were terraformed, the early settlers ignored Uveto VII as it appeared a frozen wasteland with nothing of interest on its surface. Nowadays several companies mine the frozen moon for its precious resources. These companies include RhenWorld, Akkadi and Xenogen. Largely covered in ice, with an internal ocean and wracked by extreme seasonal lightning storms, the planet is hostile and unforgiving -- but promises great riches to those who can brave its dangers.

Weather

Note that Uveto is an extremely cold and inhospitable environment with a dynamic weather system. Traversing on the surface will inflict cold damage to an unprotected Steele, with the damage varying based on where Steele is and what Steele is currently wearing. Details of how much the cold affects Steele is outlined below:

Freezing Hazard
LocationBase Damage
(per minute)
Resistance
Threshold
Outdoor 0.5 25%
Icy Tundra 1.0 35%
Frozen Tundra 1.0 50%
Freezing Hazard Modifiers
Condition Damage Multiplier
Skin Type
Fur(base damage) * 0.5
Chitin or Scales(base damage) * 1.25
Goo or Latex(base damage) * 1.5
Nakedness
Nude(base damage) * 2.0
Not Nude nakedness = 1
No armor: (nakedness) + 0.333
No upper garment or chest is exposed: (nakedness) + 0.333
No lower garment or crotch/ass is exposed: (nakedness) + 0.333
(base damage) * (nakedness)

Steele can completely resist the cold damage if Steele's freezing resistance surpasses the resistance threshold or if Steele is wearing a heat belt.

Natural Hazards

In addition to having to maintain high insulation in order to withstand the blistering cold of Uveto, the player must also be prepared for all kinds of natural occurrences that may prove hazardous to the player's health.

Freezing Hazard Modifiers
Hazard Description Effect
Slippery Ice The player will encounter slippery ice.
  • If the player fails a Reflexes test, they will slip and take 15 points of kinetic/crushing damage.
Sudden Snow Storm The player will encounter a blizzard.
  • Lasts 1 in-game hour.
  • Decreases accuracy of ranged attacks by 25%
  • Increases the necessary threshold to resist Uveto's cold to 50%
Lightning Strike The player will encounter an electrical storm and be struck by lightning.
  • If the player has active shields protecting them, then the shield will burst.
  • If the player has no shield generator equipped or 0 shield points, they will take 45 points of electrical damage.

The player has a low chance to slip on ice in any outdoor location on the surface of Uveto. The player will only encounter blizzards and electrical storms in the Icy Plains and Frozen Tundra zones of Uveto. Before either of these Hazards manifest the player will receive a warning notification on their Codex that it's getting cloudy and a storm is brewing. For the next hour, the player will have a 53.3% chance of encountering a snowstorm or electrical storm in the Icy Plains and a 66% chance to encounter one in the Frozen Tundra. The player will only be able to effectively predict incoming storms with their Codex if they completed Nayna's Weather Drone Recovery Quest.

Hostiles

General Strategy: All of the hostiles on Uveto have naturally evolved to be excellent at insulating heat to be very resistant to the bitter cold. As such, most of them have 50-100% immunity towards freezing damage. Conversely, they aren't used to extreme heats and their insulating fur can be highly flammable, meaning that they are vulnerable to burning attacks. Mating habits of the native sapients cause individuals to only really get in the mood if they can smell someone of the opposite sex is emitting pheromones from Heat or Rut. As such, tease attacks by default are ineffective against most enemies unless the player has a decent pheromone score. The Uvetans use Barbarian weapons such as axes, clubs, spears, and knives. Unlike the M'hengan's however, a lot more of the natives have been accepting of alien technology, so it is to be expected that they may be armed with the occasional basic firearm and Shield generator.

  • Korgonnes - Dwarf-like people who roam the tundra.
  • Milodans - Sabertooth beast people who roam the tundra.
  • Stormguard Warriors - Followers of the Stormguard religion.
  • Frostwyrms - Massive amphibious reptiles inhabiting the eastern coastline.
  • Lurelings - Terrifying psychic amphibians swimming beneath the ice.

#15 Warframe
  • Developer: Digital Extremes
  • Publisher: Digital Extremes
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO, NS
  • Release: March 25, 2013

Warframe has been around for quite some time and it’s still being enjoyed today. This is a completely free video game that you can download and enjoy right now. If you never heard of Warframe, think of this game like the Destiny franchise with plenty of active players and a variety of quests to take on. Players take on the role of a customized Tenno, an old race of warriors that are bound by blade and gun. Set in the far future, you awaken from a cryostasis as you’re needed once again in a grand war that has put a number of factions against each other. Of course, this game has been out since 2013 so there’s plenty more content to chew through right now if you have yet to actually make an account.

This is an action RPG title that has already five expansions and as of right now there doesn’t appear to be any case of the development team, Digital Extremes, slowing down. If you decide to go through the game with some friends, most missions are able to support up to four different players and if you’re into grinding through missions in order to find a particular item with fast-paced combat, this title is well worth checking out.

#14 Observation

  • Release: May 21, 2019

Observation is an adventure thriller that puts players into the role of an AI named S.A.M. Set on a space station, players must control the AI to assist the crew though, in this particular narrative, you’re slowly uncovering what happened to the vanished crew, the space station along with the AI system itself. The game offers some of the classic style adventure titles where most of the game is based around solving puzzles in order to progress the narrative.

While it may not have been the most well-known and highlighted video games to have released in 2019, it’s one worth checking out. Furthermore, being a narrative focused game, we’re going to avoid revealing too much as the experience is best when going in with as little information regarding its story as possible.

There are a few game modes within the game that are worth trying out. Not only is there a sandbox mode that will give players the ability to be creative and consistently conduct trials and errors of various spacecraft build but also modes that will give players objectives and missions while traveling through space.

With a realistic physics engine, crafting a spacecraft can be a challenge. Each part will need to be carefully placed which may mean playing around with your crafts for quite some time until they are fully ready for action.

There are a plethora of ways to earn money both legally and illegally in the game. Speaking of, there’s a number of servers which allows for various roleplay. As a result, the game can be quite challenging or a relatively easy experience.

#11 Destiny 2
  • Developer: Bungie
  • Publisher: Activision
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
  • Release: September 6, 2017

The Destiny franchise is not very old at all, with the first installment only released back in 2014 and though we could add the first title into the mix we’ve opted to go with the sequel as its currently active and being supported.

Destiny 2 is a multiplayer experience, this is the type of video game you would meet with a few friends to grind through for loot or complete the campaigns. If you enjoy futuristic FPS and have yet to at least try Destiny or its sequel, then you might be missing out.

A quick turnoff for some gamers may be the repetitiveness you could find yourself in while going through Destiny 2 as there could be some grinding involved. Likewise, because there’s a bigger influence in going through the campaigns or side missions with a team, the casual gamer who is seeking a narrative journey to enjoy on their own time may wish to pass this franchise up.

#10 Prey
  • Developer: Arkane Studios
  • Publisher: Bethesda Softworks
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
  • Release: May 5, 2017

The 2017 release of Prey from developers Arkane Studios is an FPS with survival horror elements. This is a futuristic title where players are set on a space station that has been tainted by a hostile alien species. During this exploration journey, gamers will be stepping into the shoes of Morgan Yu who must find a means to get rid of the alien species and escape the station.

You may recall the Prey franchise from when it first launched back in 2006 and it’s worth mentioning that this is not a reboot or remaster. Instead, the developers identify Prey as a reimagining of the IP with a new narrative. Much of the gameplay will involve exploring the station and solving a few puzzles as you progress. Likewise, this is a singleplayer only narrative so don’t expect to go through the game with a cooperative multiplayer.

#9 Doom
  • Developer: id Software
  • Publisher: Bethesda Softworks
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO, NS
  • Release: May 13, 2016

Doom is an iconic franchise that sparked interest and a bit of controversy when it launched in 1993. Now, decades later, the game franchise received a much-needed facelift with a completely new reboot known simply as Doom.

The reboot launched in 2016 and thankfully the developer’s id Software did an incredible job at making a new title that gives the same overall feel and tone of the very first installment. Most often when video games feature demons or any type of creature, there’s a bit of survival horror element tossed into the narrative, but that’s not the case for Doom. Instead, gamers are humanity’s last hope for survival and you’ve got no problem ripping apart limbs off demons or blasting them away with a BFG 9000.

With that said, the narrative won’t be the deepest story you’ll uncover for a video game, but its one that you will instantly have trouble putting down. Without being too repetitive on this list, it’s worth mentioning that there’s also Doom Eternal available as well, the sequel to the 2016 Doom installment. Although there is a big spike in difficulty and it’s best to start with the 2016 reboot if you’re new to the series.

#8 No Man’s Sky
  • Developer: Hello Games
  • Publisher: Hello Games
  • Platforms: PS4, PC, XBO
  • Release: August 9, 2016

Tossing No Man’s Sky into the list could be a bit controversial. There’s a whole lot of gamers out there that was greatly disappointed with the launch of No Man’s Sky. Despite its rough launch and rocky initial reception, No Man’s Sky remains to be a contender for a space title on the platform.

No Man’s Sky has endless planets to explore with space dogfights, trading, along with fauna and species to discover. The game was also hit with some bigger updates that did add more content and features that the developers had originally promised on which makes it well worth going back and trying the game out again if you have yet to do so.

#7 Adrift
  • Developer: Three One Zero
  • Publisher: 505 Games
  • Platforms: PC, PS4
  • Release: July 15, 2016

Adrift, or otherwise known as Adr1ft, is another first-person adventure title set in space this time developed by Three One Zero. In a lot of ways, the game could be considered similar to Apollo 13 or the 2013 film Gravity.

Overall, the game plays as an astronaut who wakes up among the wreckage of their spaceship. With no memory of what happened moments ago, players are then tasked with finding clues as to what caused the wreck. From there, it becomes a task of repairing an escape ship in order to safely return back to Earth.

There’s a series of puzzles to solve as well which are key to keeping our protagonist, Commander Alex Oshima, alive. While the game will allow players to freely explore, some of the limitations that prevents gamers from getting too far away is simply lack of oxygen which is one of the resources that must be maintained.

#6 Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
  • Developer: Infinity Ward
  • Publisher: Activision
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
  • Release: November 4, 2016

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare might not have been the most welcomed Call of Duty title within the franchise, but it has a singleplayer narrative campaign that is set within space. Overall, the narrative is set in the future where a group known as the Settlement Defense Front is attempting to take over the Solar System.

Stepping into the shoes of Captain Nick Reyes, a member of the Special Combat Air Recon is tasked with preventing the SDF from capturing the Solar System. When the video game was first revealed, there was some backlash when the competing franchise, Battlefield, announced the return to the gritty World War One time period with Battlefield 1. However, looking back there is still a full singleplayer narrative campaign to enjoy set in space with zero-gravity environments along with the fan favorite Zombies game mode.

#5 Eve: Valkyrie
  • Developer: CCP Games
  • Publisher: CCP Games
  • Platforms: PC, PS4
  • Release: October 13, 2016

Eve: Valkyrie was developed by CCP Games and is set as a multiplayer dogfighting shooter. While available for the PlayStation 4, it’s best to mention right now that the game is a PlayStation 4 VR title where players are sitting in a spaceship cockpit in a first-person view.

While the game does offer some single player missions which are mostly aimed at explorations and tutorials, the focus of Eve: Valkyrie is online PvP. Overall, gameplay offers eight by eight combat which makes for an intense experience with the VR headset. Reception for the game has been well received and it seems that Eve: Valkyrie is one the first few titles to be recommended when it comes to VR.

#4 Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime
  • Developer: Asteroid Base
  • Publisher: Asteroid Base
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, NS, XBO
  • Release: February 9, 2016

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is a much-beloved indie title by developers Asteroid Base. The video game is relatively easy to understand once you pick up the controller, but it becomes tough to master making it hard to set the game down after starting.

Within the game, players are in control of a ship and must fight off enemy ships. If you have a few friends, this is a perfect game to play as Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime offers up to four-player multiplayer. In the game, players will find that in order to control a ship they must travel to various departments of their spacecraft making it a constant battle to defeat your friends and keeping your ship safe.

#3 Star Trek: Bridge Crew
TiTsEd - A save editor | Fenoxo Forums
  • Developer: Red Storm Entertainment
  • Publisher: Ubisoft
  • Platforms: PC, PS4
  • Release: May 30, 2017

Much like our previous title on the list Eve: Valkyrie, Star Trek: Bridge Crew is another VR exclusive video game. If you’re a fan of the Star Trek franchise then this may be as close as you’ll get to sit on the command bridge.

Players will take control of the Starfleet ship USS Aegis where the initial goal is to seek a new home world for the Vulcans after the destruction of their planet. With the ship also being commanded by other players, everyone will have to work together in order to successfully navigate through the deep space and complete missions.

TiTsEd - A Save Editor | Fenoxo Forums

However, the game does offer the ability to enjoy the game alone as all of the various roles within the game can be occupied by AI except the captain as players will have to make decisions before they are able to cycle through the different roles.

#2 Alien: Isolation
  • Developer: Creative Assembly
  • Publisher: Sega
  • Platforms: PC, PS3, PS4, X360, XBO
  • Release: October 7, 2014

For fans of the horror film franchise Aliens, owning a copy of Alien: Isolation is automatically a must-have. However, if you’re unfamiliar with the film, you can still find some enjoyment from this video game title. Launched back in 2014, developers Creative Assembly has released this survival horror title for a variety of platforms over the years.

In terms of the film franchise, Alien: Isolation is set fifteen years after the events of Alien, where players will take on the role of Amanda Ripley, the daughter of Ellen Ripley who begins an investigation of tracking down the mysterious disappearance of her mother.

Much like the old school survival horror titles, Alien: Isolation has an emphasis on players avoiding the hostile alien enemy. Instead, players must rely on some stealth mechanics to maneuver around the game. This is a singleplayer video game and while there is a following, it’s unsure if we’ll see a sequel launch. Publishers to the video game, Sega, has stated that they are still considering putting out another title, but it’s unconfirmed if one is actually in the process.

#1 Dreadnought
  • Developer: Yager Development
  • Publisher: Grey Box
  • Platforms: PC, PS4,
  • Release: December 5, 2017

Dreadnought is a combat flight simulator where players take control of a massive spacecraft that is designed for war. The game is intended for players who want a bit more strategy to the space combat style video games where developers hope players feel more like a commander of a ship and less like a bounty hunter who will be attacking freely at will.

As a result the gameplay may not be as fast paced or action-packed but instead gameplay is based around making strategic movements and managing your ship. There is a multiplayer component as well where players can team up for larger battles though game matches tend to only last about ten minutes.

Outer Wilds

  • Developer: Mobius Digital
  • Publisher: Annapurna Interactive
  • Platforms: PC, XBO, PS4
  • Release: October 15, 2019 (PS4)

If you enjoy a puzzle type game then we would recommend checking into Outer Wilds. The game was developed by Mobius Digital where players take on the role of an astronaut that is stuck in a time loop. The only way to escape is to unlock the secrets from an extinct alien race. After 22 minutes pass, a sun goes into a supernova state thus resulting in the time loop restarting once again. The more you know and unlock will allow you to bypass certain sections with each loop. It’s a game all about exploration, solving codes along with a bit of trial and error. It might not be for everyone, but its gained a following and even won a few awards.

Trials In Tainted Space Unlock All Planets

The Outer Worlds

  • Developer: Obsidian Entertainment
  • Publisher: Private Division
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO, NS
  • Release: October 25, 2019

The Outer Worlds puts players into a male or female protagonist that survives a lost space shuttle. Waking up from frozen hibernation decades later, players set on a journey that mainly follows a division between a government force and a resistance group. You’ll visit several planets and meet interesting characters all of which will have their reasoning behind standing with the corporation established by the government control and those that wish to break the system in hopes of establishing something that offers a bit more democracy freedom.

While the main campaign will have you deciding between the two pathways, there are a ton of side quests, places to explore, monsters to slay, and loot to be found. There’s even a skill tree that can grant players the ability to craft and tune in the created protagonist towards the desired play style. For instance, places can stick to their guns and blow away the competitor or smooth talk their way out of trouble. Likewise, because there are several different quests and pathways to take the narrative through, you may find yourself playing the game more than once to get the full campaign story.

Newer Planets? | Fenoxo Forums

You might not always be in space, but you’re traveling to different planets enough to make us feel that it would be amiss not to include The Outer Worlds into the list. Likewise, there’s more content coming out for this game. We’ve already received the first DLC expansion with another coming at a later date.
